Lowdi,is taking home not one but two Red Dot Design Awards in the Communication Design 2013 competition for the categories Online Communication and Brand Design & Identity. The designers behind the Lowdi brand, digital creative agency Momkai from Amsterdam, picked up a total of four awards this year!
The Red Dot Design Award dates back to 1955 and is now one of the world’s largest and most distinguished design competitions. The judges, all of whom are design experts of international acclaim, assessed about 6,800 entries from 43 countries whilst being live on site, awarding only the top projects.
The wireless speaker Lowdi won awards in the Online Communication and Brand Identity & Design categories. Lowdi, launched by Momkai last year, came from a love of both music and high quality design. This merged with the desire to bridge the digital and the physical resulted in a uniquely designed product, brand identity, package and website. Lead designer and founder of Momkai Harald Dunnink and his design team envisioned the Lowdi concept. He explains: ‘We got the opportunity to represent a speaker, and chose to create the entire identity and web shop. We were really inspired by the old Marshall amps and that classic feeling of German engineering from the 50s’. The Lowdi website, a distinct one pager with a refreshing color palette, equipped with a responsive design that works across platforms, was created by Momkai as well.
The Momkai team will pick up the awards at the Red Dot Design award ceremony in Berlin on October 18th.
